In the run-up to the 2024 Indian general election, various media houses and polling agencies have conducted opinion polls to gauge the public's sentiment and predict the outcome. A poll of 35,801 respondents conducted across India between December 28, 2023, and January 22, 2024, found that Modi's right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to retain power with a comfortable majority. The poll predicts that the BJP will win between 272 and 310 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament. A majority of 272 seats is required for a party to form a government.

Exit Poll Predictions

Exit polls conducted on May 28, 2024, also predicted a victory for the BJP. According to these polls, the BJP is likely to win between 280 and 320 seats, while the main opposition Congress party is projected to win between 100 and 150 seats. The results of these polls suggest that the BJP is well-positioned to secure a third consecutive term in office.
