The second half was a tense affair, with both teams looking for the winning goal. It was Vinicius Junior who eventually broke the deadlock in the 74th minute with a clinical finish.
Real Madrid held on for the win, earning their first Copa del Rey title since 2014. Vinicius Junior's goal proved to be the difference and earned him the man of the match award.
Athletic Bilbao, who had lost in the last six Copa del Rey finals, also secured a historic victory this year. They defeated Mallorca on penalties to end their 40-year wait for silverware.
